How to Earn on Your XRP with FXRP on Flare
Updated 2026-10-30
Short answer: XRP can't earn yield on the XRP Ledger itself, but FXRP, XRP brought onto the Flare network, can. You can lend it, stake it with Firelight for stXRP, put it in a vault that spreads it across apps for you, or add it to a liquidity pool. Each step up pays more and adds more risk. Part of today's yield comes from Flare's incentive programs, which don't last forever, so rates can fall.
New to FXRP? Read what FXRP is first: how XRP becomes FXRP, the fees, and what backs it.
Before you start
- Get FXRP: mint it from your own XRP with a minting app listed in Flare's official documentation (Xaman users can do it from its Flare xApp), or buy FXRP on a Flare exchange.
- Have a little FLR in the same wallet for network fees. See how to buy FLR.
- Open every app from Flare's official documentation or a bookmark, never from a link in a message.
The options, simplest first
1. Lend it (Kinetic)
Supply FXRP to a lending market such as Kinetic and earn interest paid by borrowers, sometimes plus incentive rewards. You can usually withdraw at any time, unless almost all of the FXRP is lent out at that moment.
Risks: the app's smart contracts, and rates that move with demand.
2. Stake it for stXRP (Firelight)
Deposit FXRP into Firelight and receive stXRP, a token that represents your share. Firelight uses the deposits to back cover against losses in Flare apps, and pays for that.
Risks: if a covered loss happens, part of the deposits can be used to pay for it. Withdrawals can take time.
3. A vault that does it for you (earnXRP by Upshift)
A vault such as earnXRP takes FXRP and spreads it across several Flare apps (lending, liquidity and Firelight) and pays its yield in XRP terms.
Risks: you take on the risks of every app the vault uses, plus the vault's own code and choices. Withdrawals have a waiting period.
4. Liquidity pools (SparkDEX, Enosys)
Pair FXRP with another token (often a stablecoin such as USDT0) in a pool and earn trading fees and incentives.
Risks: when XRP's price moves, the pool rebalances your two tokens, and you can end up with less than if you'd held (called impermanent loss). Concentrated "range" pools stop earning when the price leaves your range.
Our Yield Hunters page lists current yields from established protocols on Flare and other chains, with the risk rules we use.
Where the yield comes from
- Borrowers paying interest, and traders paying pool fees: these last as long as people use the apps.
- Incentives: FLR or other tokens paid by Flare or the apps to attract deposits. They can be large, but they're temporary.
A rate far above what lending XRP elsewhere pays usually means incentives, or extra risk.
Track it
Your FXRP, stXRP and DeFi positions on Flare show on our Portfolio. Approvals you give these apps stay in place until you remove them: review them in the approval checker.
Do this
- Read what FXRP is and start with an amount you could afford to lose.
- Get FXRP and a little FLR for fees.
- Start with the simplest option you're comfortable with, and read the app's own docs on withdrawals.
- Check where the yield comes from before chasing a high number.
- Track your positions on the Portfolio, and revoke approvals you no longer use.
